On Tuesday Year 5 had an amazing time at WeTheCurious, formerly known as @Bristol. The children were able to explore the science museum, getting very hands on with the exhibits, including augmented reality, animation, blood making, typhoons and many more. We had a brilliant workshop about earth and space and were amazed by the size of Earth in relation to the other planets. The day was topped off with the planetarium experience high was truly 'out of this world'!
Year 5 and 6 were very lucky to have PCSO Rich Shelton in to discuss e-safety this afternoon. We explored ways to keep ourselves safe online. We watched the CEOP video where the young girl Becky gave out too much information on her social media page. Subsequently a man pretending to be a boy her age, tried to meet her. The video clip was quite hard hitting but this thing happens up and down the country every day and we need to educate everybody in his issue.
Year 5 pupils had the unfortunate experience of walking into a cordoned crime scene this morning to discover that their classrooms had been broken into overnight and vandalised. The children have had a meeting with Mrs Hayward and PCSO Rich Shelton visited the children to gather evidence and information from the children and to explain what happens now in the investigation.
Since the discovery by Mr Chance this morning, the children have been busy writing up their findings and instead of writing about Goldilocks and the Three Bears next week, we will be writing a newspaper report about this shocking incident!
Year 5 have really enjoyed reading a range of newspapers and articles in order to enrich their recount writing in Literacy.
