We had such an amazing day fossil hunting on Charmouth beach. The children all found a whole array of fossils and their enthusiasm and excitement was not damped by the weather! We hope the children have come home and shared their discoveries with you and told you all the different names for the fossils.
In Literacy, we have been looking at the book Chalk by Bill Thompson. During the story 3 children draw pictures in chalk on the ground and they magically come to life.
The children went outside to draw their own pictures in chalk on the playground and then they acted them out, imagining them coming to life!
Year 3 are learning their 3, 4 and 8 times tables. Use the links below to practise them at home over Easter. If you're really confident, try the games involving your division facts.
This half term, year 3 are finding out about stone age animals so they can write their own report about them. You can find out more about these animals at: http://www.kents-cavern.co.uk/cave-animals
Here is our French song for the carol service. Watch the video and try to learn all of the words.
As part of our topic on the Victorians, we visited the historic village at Morwellham Quay. We learnt what life was life for children there during the Victorian period. The children were able to dress up in costume, make their own chocolate and experience school and work as a Victorian child would have done. We had a fantastic time and learnt lots of new information which we will be able to use in our learning back in school.
At Pinhoe, we like to contribute positively to our community. Recently, Mrs Hughes’ class visited the Dementia Unit at Green Tree Court Residential home. We took part in a ‘Wear it Pink Day’ to raise money for Cancer Awareness. With the residents, we iced and decorated cakes and made pink crafts. There were winners for the best 3 fancy dress. Everyone involved had a really brilliant time!
For our first Literacy sequence, we read Aaron Becker's story 'Journey'. It's about a girl who finds a magic crayon that brings to life anything she draws. It's a wordless book so we had to really use our imaginations! The drawings are beautiful so we worked on our descriptive writing so we could put words to this super adventure.
Here's the book trailer for the story. Have a watch!
