Today Mr Drew and Big Black Boris came to visit us. We listened very carefully whilst he told us about all the different items of kit and how these are used in his job. He showed us his heavy protective vest and asked Trudi to try it on, along with his helmet. Mr Drew told us lots of information about his dog Boris, including: where he lives, how far away he can detect a human (up to 600m), how heavy he is (6 stone) and how old he is (4). Mr Drew asked Jude to hide his wallet and Boris was able to locate it within seconds! He also showed us Boris' loud bark that he does when he finds someone or something of interest! We really enjoyed Boris' visit!
We had a wonderful launch to our new topic of Africa today! We had a fabulous morning making our own passports and boarding passes. Then in the afternoon we went to the hall which had been set up as an airport and aeroplane. We had to queue to have our passport and luggage checked, find our numbered seat and practice in flight safety measures such as fastening our seat belt and the brace position! We learnt about the different areas of the airport and what it is like to travel on an aeroplane. We had an inflight snack which was provided to us by the air hosts. What a fun time we had!
This half term we have looked at different traditions in other cultures.
We all had a great time racing with our pancakes. We raced in our house teams and on the day Bradbrigde won in our class!
Our new scooters went missing from the shed! We spent the day being detectives looking for clues to find out what happened to them.
We found foot prints and a glove and watched CCTV footage that showed a person removing them from the shed.
The children came up with lots of ideas including "We could ask the bigger children if they know where they are".
At the end of the day we were surprised to find out that Mr Chance had removed them to clean them for us!
