Year 5 have launched into their topic 'Earth and Space'. We are almost finished with our solar system which will be suspended from our classroom by the end of next week. We experienced space food and were enlightened by astronauts as to what life is like on-board the International Space Station. You can find out some information yourselves by scanning the QR code at the bottom of this post!
We have really enjoyed such a large range of different arts this week, including: watching the Year 6 dress rehearsal of their production, learning the ukulele (thanks to Mr Worsa), using oil pastels to create our exhibition pictures of rainforest creatures, painting the layers of the rainforest, using ICT to create art, learning cross stitch, creating a school mosaic (with help from Mrs Hunt) and being artistic and expressive in gymnastics.
Today has been an amazing day of Art and Design in Year 5. The children have designed and created a diorama to depict the Rainforest. They really enjoyed the freedom to create it any way they wanted and to use whatever materials they could lay their hands on! Here are some photos of the making process...
Year 5 have spent a very fun day creating their own rainforest dioramas using a variety of materials. We used paint, shoeboxes, tissue paper, cardboard, paper, string and any others things that we could lay our hands on. A fun time was had by all with everyone successfully managing to complete their design before the weekend - phew!
On Tuesday we were honing our volleyball skills and further developing our teamwork as we had to keep the ball up in a 'rally' before playing some mini competitive games.
