On Friday 24th June we held our first sports day where the children were competing for their new houses of Bradbridge, Curzon, Lavington and Stafford. In the morning all of the children competed in 7 different field events including long jump and discus throw. The attitude of all of the children was fantastic as they earned lots of points for their teams. In the afternoon we held 3 different relay races. As with the morning, the children worked really hard for their houses with lots of very competitive races. Overall Bradbridge won the morning events, Stafford won the afternoon events but a big congratulations to Curzon who were the first overall winners of the Pinhoe Sports Day Cup! Thanks to all those who came along to support.
On Friday 10th June, Our year 5 tag rugby team took part in a year 5/6 tournament at the Exeter Chiefs training ground. The team (Millie, Izzy, Neve, Maddie, Michael, Harry, George, Jack and Kaiden) were drawn in a pool with Willowbrook and Silverton primary schools, with the winner of the group proceeding to the final pool. Our first match with Willowbrook ended in a tight one all draw. Our try scorer was Izzy. Willowbrook then played Silverton and that also ended one all. This meant that the winner of our match with Silverton would make the final. The match was another tight game that ended two all with our try scorers being Millie and George. This meant we had to play a sudden death extra time match with SIlverton. We scored almost straight from the start with Jack getting the all important winner.
In the final pool we were drawn against two very strong teams; Duchy School and Exminster. We lost a very attacking game against Duchy and then lost a very tight game against Exminster. Kaiden and George scored the tries in the first match and Neve scored an amazing hat trick against Exminster. The team played extremely well and were very proud to pick up their bronze medals.
